Jenny, thank you for your "THE BLURB" email. Here is something your readers might enjoy sometime. I believe the COLLECTIVE SILENCE of society is what perpetuates ongoing trauma, abuse, inhumane actions, and holocausts.
As I stated in my book, BONSHEA, Hitler did not murder 6 million Jews, it was the collective consciousness of that society who "gifted him the power." Hitler just seized the power that was given him.
It is the same for judges or the DHS in our society who commit acts of cruelty and injustices with no checks and balances. When our society stops gifting them "the power," we will no longer see these acts of injustices committed on innocent human beings. It is simple as that, but somehow apathy has set in within our society and even though society "hears" about these injustices, they sit back and do NOTHING....and that is all our perpetrators, judges and the DHS need.
When public OUTRAGE is the norm, then you will see "the shift" that we all long for.....I call it "ONE FINE DAY."
"The absence of outrage is an outrage itself." -Thomas Lynch
"There is a trauma clearly caused by the actions of another human being, an
agent of trauma. But when the traumatic events are of human design, those who bear witness are caught in the conflict between victim and perpetrator.
It is morally impossible to remain neutral in this conflict. The bystander is forced to take sides. It is very tempting to take the side of the
perpetrator. All the perpetrator asks is that bystander do NOTHING..... the victim, on the contrary, asks the bystander to share the burden of pain.
The victim demands action, engagement and remembering." -Judith Herman,
TRAUMA AND RECOVERY
I will add that the victim also demands justice, restitution, vindication and apologies.
"But unfortunately the likely human response to this trauma is to do nothing, except to blame the victim: what was she wearing; what was she
doing there; why did she marry him; etc.... There is little empathy or sympathy, a deflection of attention away from the agent of the trauma and a
tendency to silence or ostracize the victim altogether. The moral substance of this trauma is
murky. And since the perpetrator most likely is someone known to both the victim and her community, bystanders prefer not to get
involved."
